The Rotunda Hospital is being run on a paper-based system and has extended its appointment cancellations until the end of the week after the cyberattack on the HSE.

It also emerged yesterday that hackers also targeted the Department of Health’s IT system with a similar attack last week.

The maternity hospital in Dublin said yesterday that it had no access to patient charts, clinic schedules or appointment details and emails.

“We have developed paper-based systems where possible, which add additional strain on our resources. We are not currently able to contact any patients directly,” the hospital said in a statement.
