Seven years have passed since Subway was accused of selling “foot-long” sandwiches that measured only 11½ inches.

Now the fast food chain is facing a claim that strikes at the heart of one of its most popular sandwiches. A lawsuit filed by two customers in California claims that Subway’s tuna sandwich does not contain tuna.

“We tested the tuna in multiple sandwiches and found no tuna,” said Mark Lanier, a lawyer acting for Karen Dhanowa and Nilima Amin in what is intended to become a class-action suit on behalf of thousands of people in California who have bought the sandwich in the past three years.
