Londoners are more devoutly religious and less liberal on issues of sex and sexuality than the rest of Britain, a report has shown.

The capital is often seen as more secular and liberal-minded, particularly when it comes to politics, but a survey found that Londoners were on average more pious and more socially conservative.

London has a larger proportion of Catholics and Muslims than the rest of the country, with more people likely to have moved from more religiously devout and conservative countries, according to the report by Theos, a religion think tank. It said there were “intense pockets of traditionalism”.
