Bank robber’s demand: let me see pop star

It was a quiet day at a bank in central Moscow until a man in black threatened to blow up the building, and demanded a visit from a pop star.

Alexei Baryshnikov, 34, told Alfa Bank staff that the building was wired with explosives and his backpack contained a bomb. He said that he wanted to meet Olga Buzova, a well-known singer and media personality.

Staff evacuated and armed police surrounded the building. What happened next is unclear, but reports suggest that an unnamed client entered and befriended Mr Baryshnikov. The men began drinking wine.
