A widow has said she has no confidence in the health service’s ability to control the spread of Covid-19 after a staff member rang her husband’s phone three weeks after he died to ask about his close contacts.

Emily Waszak said that a Covid-19 test was carried out on her husband after he died suddenly in April, but she has never been officially told that he had the virus.

Ms Waszak, 41, originally from the United States, met her husband, Aonghus Cheevers, 43, from Donegal, 13 years ago while they were in Japan. They moved to Ireland permanently about ten years ago.
