Dentists have once again been sent out-of-date facemasks to protect staff and patients from coronavirus.

Boxes of 1863 FFP3 masks were delivered to practices yesterday containing equipment with a use by date of September 30, 2019.

Kevin Clark, who runs three dental practices in Lanarkshire, said that he received four boxes that were marked out of date. “What would happen if one of the staff contracted Covid?” he said.

Concerns have been growing within the Scottish Dental Practice Owners Group, comprising 465 practice owners, whose members have been given masks meant to have been withdrawn a decade ago. The group claimed that masks came in packing with labels stuck over the original expiry dates.
