A man known as Russia's "Sausage King" has been killed with a crossbow in a sauna at his home near Moscow.

Intruders broke into the home of Russian meat boss Vladimir Marugov, 54, early on Monday.

They tied him and his partner up in the sauna and demanded money before killing him with a crossbow.

The woman managed to escape and call the police but Mr Marugov had reportedly been tortured before his death.

The intruders had fled by the time officers arrived but the crossbow and getaway vehicle were found.

Reports said that one attacker was later arrested.

Russia's Investigative Committee did not name the victim but Russian media identified him as Mr Marugov, who had owned Ozyorsky Sausages and Meat Empire.
