It is one of Britain’s most exclusive preschools, charging parents fees of £20,000 a year so toddlers can learn subjects ranging from Mandarin and Spanish to cookery, yoga and dance. But a very public spat between parents and its young founder has ended up in court.

Parents have set up protest groups on Mumsnet and Facebook targeting Sara Brennan, 31, the owner of Bluebell Cottage School in Kensington, west London. They are demanding the return of non-refundable fees that stretch into five figures.

The web posts accuse her of screaming at parents on the phone, failing to stick to the school’s organic diet, presiding over a high turnover of staff and scrimping on Mandarin classes.

Five parents have taken the nursery to the small claims
