An Israeli company has unveiled what it claims to be the first 3D-printed, non-slaughtered rib-eye steak, and says it is now moving on to other cuts.

The steak, pictured, was grown from cow cells that were then cultivated on a plant-based web to resemble real meat, including a normal steak’s fat and muscle texture.

The company, Aleph Farms, released a photograph of the meat being tested by Binyamin Netanyahu, the prime minister.

“It’s delicious and guilt-free, I can’t taste the difference,” Netanyahu said, adding that he had ordered officials to establish a body overseeing and encouraging the development of food using biotechnology.

“Israel will become a powerhouse for alternative meat and alternative protein,” he said.
