Music ban is turning pubs into libraries, owners protest

A trade group has called for an end to the ban on background music in pubs and restaurants, saying that the lack of atmosphere is damaging business.

The ban aims to limit the spread of the coronavirus by letting people talk without raising their voices or leaning towards each other.

The Night Time Industries Association Scotland questioned the scientific rationale and claimed that the sector was at risk of “complete wipe-out” unless the ban was lifted.
